ABOUT US!
OUR STUDIO
The Dance Barn, LLC is a family owned and operated dance studio offering classes in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and social/ballroom dancing to children of all ages and adults in Greene County, Virginia and surrounding areas. We provide excellent technical training in a fun and nurturing environment, and want all our students to experience the joy of movement that is DANCE.
The Dance Barn began in a converted shed at Sweet Dog Farm as a place for Kelly Silliman to dance, choreograph, and teach friends and family. Kelly and Tom wanted to work closer to home, and while looking for things to do with their three daughters, felt that Greene County could benefit from more activities for kids. In 2008 they moved the Dance Barn to the shopping plaza in Stanardsville, and are now conveniently located in a beautiful studio space between Greene Great Valu and Sal’s Pizza.

MEET OUR FAMILY!
Kelly Silliman has been dancing for as long as she can remember, and loves everything about it. When not dancing, she enjoys reading, napping, eating good food, and playing with her friends. Kelly secretly loves Jelly Bellies and can tie shoelaces in a bow with her toes. Please see her full bio on the faculty page!
Tom Silliman is a computer geek at heart, but left the corporate world of IT Management in 2008 to farm Sweet Dog Farm full time. He raises pastured poultry for meat and eggs, which he sells at the Greene County Farmer's Market, to Maya Restaurant in Charlottesville, and direct to customers. Tom loves sunshine and chocolate. Please see his full bio on the faculty page!
Rosalie Silliman has been attending dance rehearsals and performances since she was two weeks old. She performed as an infant with NEW ARTiculations Dance Theatre in a piece with Kelly, and has recently started her choreographic career. Rosalie likes fairies and nature and books and loves living on a farm.
Arissa Silliman has also been to many dance rehearsals and performances, and enjoys running wildly around empty studios. She likes animals and playing outside when it is sunny.
Phoebe Silliman has spent many dance classes in a carrier on Kelly’s back. She appeared briefly in Shentai before leaving to pursue other interests. Phoebe loves to sing and asks anyone who is sitting down to read her a book, whether she knows them or not.
Wylie Silliman spends most of his time at the studio sleeping or watching classes. We expect him to start pulling his weight around here in a year or two. Stay tuned!
